Viva Alicante

Every now and then we all have this feeling of being lucky, don't we? Last week we were sad about the frontal weather that seemed to block our route from Eindhoven to Alicante. But with the help of friendly and very good(!) weatherman, who suggested weather would probably be on our side, we managed to get there with excellent wx.

Since I am in the middle of my last atpl exams (next week) I won't bother you with too much text, and just put some photos on. Then after next week, or in between if I am fed up with learning, I will write the full story.

We did the trip last tuesday 15. May, starting at EHEH Eindhoven. We take with us the lovely PC-HCG, a nice Reims Cessna FR172J, nickname Tweety. Our first leg will be to Valence, just south of Lyon. We do some vfr on top (of clouds) in France after having seen some real nice sceneries in the Ardennes. After refueling we fly north of Perpignan, east of Barcelona and Girona, travel through the Montserrat area, do a bit of coastal work fom Reus on until Valencia, and then take it up in the mountains again shortly before reaching Alicante.

Take a look at the pictures, they speak for themselves.. As you can imagine, this probably is the nicest trip that I made so far. I will write down some details next time, and plenty of pictures more. Happy flying!

I never knew Spain had such beautiful mountain areas. Amazing and very exciting to have closer inspection with Tweety.. :):):)

Almost immediately after leaving the Ardennes we decided to go and fly FL55 VFR on top, in one word: breathtaking. To see the development of the weather (coming from the West) makes it very interesting.

French landscapes are not bad at all! Despite GPS, VOR/DMEs and NDBs, rivers provide a pleasant way of navigating. After all, we are flying VFR...

As I said, French landscapes not bad at all.. Or was it Spain..? Too much impressions I guess.

I never taxied behind a 737 before! This Easyjet will depart while we were going to refuel at Alicante, still searching for the follow me car here. For me, the journey ended here and I took a charterflight back to Amsterdam. Quite opposite the flying we had done this day!
